Let it be known to all who view these presents that, during my stay with Patrick in August, I had grapefruit for several breakfasts, and he refrained from applying a single smiley face to them! (Thanks, Patrick!)
This year I took a walk down the street and checked out a creek near his house.
One field that lies beside the creek was partly cleared this spring. It will be interesting to see what they do with it. For now, it's growing back up with ragweed, sedge, poke, some things I don't recognize and many that I do.
Here's the view from one of our favorite eateries. The sound of the creek (it's a big creek or a small river) makes a pleasant background as you eat in a screened in porch outdoors.
Naturaly, we had to go see the submarine. What else would you do in Oklahoma but visit a sub?
The website of the USS Batfish. Be sure to check out her postwar history! She had quite a trip to her present location.
A flame caught my eye and we drove up to investigate, discovering ourselves at the Unity Fountian in the Cherokee government complex. This moving monument (pun intended, Patrick!) incorporates stones from a number of places at the beginning and end of The Trail of Tears.
